First things first, you’ve nailed down the room you want remodeled. The room is a busy one, used multiple times a day and you want it to look nice, stay clean and not fall victim to long term wear and tear. One important measure to consider for this room is water-proofed floors. At this point most of you know what room we’re going to be talking about. Bathrooms! This is a place of regular use and there’s value in taking the time to find all the right parts and pieces to fit into it! We want to focus on the floors; they need to be durable while also cost effective and appealing for your use, as well as create space for increased resale value!
You know the drill by now, we organize with lists, just like the punch lists we have when we work on your projects day to day. Here are the top three choices we would suggest for your bathroom flooring remodel:
Natural Stone Tile
Porcelain Tile
Sheet Vinyl
1. Natural Stone Tile
If you’re aiming to resell after this project and really want the biggest return on your investment, this one may be worth considering. The natural stone tile adds a modern look to your bathroom while also boosting its value overall. The reason for this is because it's highly durable and will last much longer than its competitors. If you fear slips due to its nature, get a style with natural textures or go with a small tile. The smaller tile allows for more grout space which essentially allows for more grip when wet feet are on it. If you fear the stone tile will be too cold, opt in to add radiant heating below if plausible. Again, this will add to the price, but it’s a HUGE selling point for the next homeowner’s moving in.
2. Porcelain Tile
This is what we call the classic of flooring. Porcelain has been a common option for centuries (we’re not kidding, this stuff was first introduced in the 15th century in China!) It’s now been more recently curated into a nice flush style that is a common selection for flooring. Much like natural stone, this option is waterproof, so no fears of water damage or that dreaded mold. There’s a lot of new styles of this tile as well options to lay them and pattern them specifically to your needs. This option is cost-effective and keeps the floors protected for a great deal of time!
3. Sheet Vinyl
Last but not least, sheet vinyl flooring. This option is by far the cheapest of our list, but don’t assume just because it’s cheap means it’s low quality! This flooring has become strongly popular in all rooms of a home. It’s extremely versatile for it’s style options and installing it is similar to that of hardwood flooring. They come in sheets of about 5 inches width by 40-50 inches in length! This option is for those who are looking to save some money and still providing the room with a fresh modern look!
There you have it guys, we wanted to keep this one short and isolate the article down to just a few of the best options for your bathroom floors. We could’ve gone on about the bad choices but we’ll save our breath and maybe talk about those ones another time (carpet, hardwoods, laminate). If you have any questions in regards to any of the flooring options we mentioned above, feel free to give us a call and we can further help you make the best decision based on your current budget and room layout!
